Do I need an egg donor?

Women are born with a fixed number of eggs, which decline steadily throughout their lifetime.  This decline is individual and sometimes occurs earlier than expected. If egg numbers are too low then even IVF can’t help.

However, Dr Sacks can help you decide whether seeking an egg donor is the right choice for you.

As it is illegal in Australia to buy and sell gametes, you may ask a relative or friend to donate her eggs to you. Ideally, she should be under the age of 36 and have completed her own family.

Dr Sacks is a clinical director of IVFAustralia.
